Langston Hughes Poem

                              Forgetting them.

What happens to forgotten souls?
Do they just disappear like magic,
float away like a lonely balloon?
or sink to the deepest darkness like something dropped in the ocean
and then is never thought of again?
Do they escape like a prisoner?
or hide like a scorned child,
like a homeless dog all alone?
Maybe it just keeps to itself,
like a shy teenager,
or does it disappear?
